Totally clueless

Having watched every single minute of Argentina’s national team since Maradona took over, here is a very small post match rant about how dreadful Maradona is as a coach. I could probably elaborate further but it’s 2am and I wanted to get this up now. During the week I shall hopefully post a longer analysis as to where everything has gone wrong.

Here we go!

Maradona is the worst manager I have ever seen in my life.

Seriously dreadful.

Walter Samuel
Estaban Cambiasso
Juan Riquelme
Lisandro Lopez
Gonzalo Higuain
Mauro Zarate

All of the above have failed to be used. Pathetic. Unexcusable!

Instead he goes with a cumbersome centre back combination of the inexperienced Dominguez and unimpressive Heinze. Otamendi has been dreadful in his few appearances so far as well. Where is Daniel Diaz? He has been decent whenever I’ve seen him. Where is Walter Samuel? Then, he goes and puts on a 36 year old uncapped defender! Hell, I’m surprised he didn’t throw Coloccini on just for a laugh!

He insists on playing 34 year old Veron in the midfield. He is a mile past his best. Slow and uninspiring. Where’s Riquelme. Oh I forgot, he doesn’t need him apparantly. Where’s Cambiasso, a solid leader in midfield. I could go on!

Then you’ve got the striking options. Only Maradona could make a ton of fearsome strikers look as threatening as Emile Heskey! Tevez gets suspended so you think hmmmmm it may be blessing in disguise. He might actually go with the target man up front with one of the smaller and quicker strikers. Instead he sticks Aguero up front by himself. Oh and then he sticks on 35 year old Martin Palermo ahead of Lopez, Higuain, Milito, Zarate, Crespo, Saviola et al!

As an Englishman, please please please don’t sack Maradona, his choices are truly hilarious and if they somehow scrape qualification then they won’t get past the group stage with him in charge. I actually think I could do a better job along with anyone that has an above par knowledge of the beautiful game. The only thing Maradona has in his favour is the respect people have for him as a footballer. As a coach I don’t think he actually knows what he’s doing.

Well said my friend. What baffles me is the fact that the Argentine football association continues to have faith in the failures of the player turned coach. I guess they simply and firmly believe “failure is the stepping stone to success”

Wake up people and make the changes the team needs starting with the coach and other old horses such as Veron, Heinze. Where is Riquelme, Higuain, Crespo, Lizandro, Aimar?

It is time to set aside egos put national interest ahead of personal interests of this player turned coach!

He who has an ear, let him hear!!
