£20 million Cahill in sight for Gunners

Gary Megson has claimed that Arsene Wenger has enquired about the availability of central defender Gary Cahill. The Bolton manager declared that Arsenal boss Wenger, who has recently admitted he needs to add experience to the young Arsenal squad, asked him how much he would want to sign Cahill.
Arsenal’s problems in the defence have been highlighted recently after Gael Clichy, William Gallas and Bakary Sagna were all injured for a crucial game vs Chelsea in the FA Cup Semi-Final. Although Sagna has since recovered, Gallas and Clichy were ruled out until the end of the season.
Questions have been asked once again this season after Arsenal’s inability to challenge for the title, and recent signing Andrey Arshavin, who has been a revelation since joining from Zenit St. Petersburg in February for a club record transfer fee of £15,000,000, admitted that a club of The Gunners’ stature must be challenging for honours next season.
