Bendtner & Clichy Nearing Full Fitness

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner looks set to return from a prolonged spell on the sidelines within the fortnight, according to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

The tall Dane, who returned to training on Friday, hasn’t seen first team action since the 3-0 defeat of Tottenham in the north London derby, which he limped out of with a groin injury.

Since then, Bendtner has also had surgery on a hernia, but Wenger is confident that the 21-year old target man will add some much needed muscle to an Arsenal attack which has lacked a prominent figure since Robin van Persie’s horrendous ankle injury sustained on international duty with Holland.

“He is doing well in training and had a good session today, so the news is quite good,” said Wenger.

“I would say he could be back in two weeks.”

There was also positive news on another of the Gunners long-term casualties; French full-back Gael Clichy is expected to return to training on Monday following a lengthy period out with a back injury.
