World Cup Qualification Match – Brazil vs Argentina – Match Preview

Many Premier League players are involved in this crunch clash in the South American World Cup qualifiying group.¬†Argentina will host the most important match so far. Argentina have lots to play for whereas Brazil have almost certainly qualified for the 2010 world cup, but nontheless Brazil won’t let Argentina win as these 2 are big rivals.

Brazil may have featured some unknown players in their squad for the big game but also some quality players with tons of experience. Here is the Brazil squad:

Julio Cesar, Victor, Maicon, Lucio, Luisao, Andre Santos, Dani Alves, Juan, Miranda, Filipe, Filipe Melo, Gilberto Silva, Kaka, Sandro, Elano, Julio Baptista, Lucas, Ramires, Adriano, Luis Fabiano, Robinho, Nilmar

Brazil’s key player is definately Kaka, his stats go with his performance on the field. Quite staggering stats, 26 goals in 71 games compared to striker Robinho’s 19 goals in 71 games. Voted World Player Of The Year in 2007 after a wonderful season. He scored his 1st international goal in a 6-1 friendly win over Iceland in 2002. When he was signed by Real Madrid he was welcomed by 50,000 fans at the bernabeu proving what a great signing the madrid fans thought he was.

Argentina have selected almost the same as Brazil with afew Good and unknown players. Heres the squad:

Andujar, Carrizo, Romero, Burdisso, Coloccini, Dominguez, Heinze, Otamendi, Papa, Pareja, Schiavi, Zanetti, Battaglia, Bolatti, Brato, Datolo, Gago, Mascherano, Rodriguez, Veron, Aguero, Lavezzi, Lopez, Messi, Milito, Palermo, Salvio, Tevez.

Argentina’s key player is Lionel Messi, to have played 38 games for your country and been nominated 2 times for FIFA player of the year at the young age of 22 is remarkable. The Barcelona frontman has scored lots of goals for his country and will be hoping for more against Brazil.

In the build up to the match Robinho asked to be left out of Manchester City’s game against Portsmouth in the premier league on Sunday so he was fresh for Brazil. ‘I asked to not play because I had pains in the ankle,’ said Robinho, ‘especially because Brazil v Argentina is more important.’

I honestly think Brazil have a stronger squad and think they will beat Argentina by afew goals. They will desperately want to knock Argentina’s world cup hopes, they won’t want to give Argentina the boost they’ll need to step up a gear and qualify.
