Bye Bye Delroy

Gillingham FC have announced today that Grenadian striker Delroy Facey has been released from his contract by mutual consent.

Facey, who made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Gills last season, finished last season with a successful loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers, featuring in their League Two semi-final defeat to Stockport County.

However, with the signing of the Barbados striker Mark McCammon, and the fact that he only scored 3 goals last term, it was only really a matter of time before Facey left the club, as manager Mark Stimson accepted he couldn’t guarantee the striker regular first-team football.

Stimson told Gillingham’s official website: “With the arrival of Mark McCammon, I couldn’t guarantee Delroy first-team football. It’s good for him that he’s chosen to move on and I wish him all the best in the future.”
