Mystery Man

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has said today that he remains hopeful of signing his transfer target, which is believed to be a striker as Stimson said a striker would be his number one priority this summer. This transfer target has yet to be named to the Gills fans, but after pursuing this unnamed target for several weeks, Stimson remains hopeful he will get his man.

“The main thing is we haven’t had any bad news from him and I think he is looking to make his decision by the end of the week.

“I’ve been watching Teletext and Sky Sports News and his names not come up at all so hopefully by the end of the week we might be able to announce something.”

Stimson has also revealed that he might have some trialists in his pre-season squad, saying: “I haven’t invited anyone else in yet as it’s more important to work with all the boys under contract, but we may have one or two trialists as the week goes on.”

“I’ve always said that we have a decent squad at the club, the priority now is to add quality to the side rather than quantity.”
