Seedorf pulls out of Euro 2008

Clarence Seedorf has sensationally announced he will not be available for selection for the Dutch Squad for this summer’s European Championships in Austria and Switzerland.

Seedorf revealed he called Dutch coach Marco Van Basten with the shock news. He also added that he will not be retiring from international football.

Seedorf is quoted as saying “It is a decision that comes after serious consideration and months of reflection. Since my return to the national team, the right conditions have not been created to let me perform at my best and to effectively excel as the team member I always strive to be”

The AC Milan midfielder had been named in a provisional 30 man squad for the tournament which will be nestled down to 23 before the deadline on May 28th.

The former Ajax star has made 87 appearances at international level, scoring 11 times.
