Super Mario Not Having the Best of Times

Mario Balotelli has been having a very tough campaign, following the arrival of new gaffer Jose Mourinho. Highly rated by previous coach Roberto Mancini, Balotelli has failed to impress the new boss, and isn’t having the best weeks of his life in Milan.

The 18-year-old burst into tears during training earlier in the month, after a team-mate criticized him. Balotelli has repeatedly been left out by Mourinho, but his boss sees the treatment as something that will help him and his carear.

“Balotelli is the same as the other players for me, even if he is young and people expect a great deal of him,” said Mourinho.

“I want to point out he is a good lad. Some would like him to have a high profile, but he is not ready for this – both on the field and off it.

“Don’t think I enjoy leaving him out. What’s happening is hurting me, but I think one day he will understand who is helping him and who is not. He has all the time to become a great player and a great man.”

His troubles continue, though, as he recently missed the meeting of the Italian U21 players, reportedly sleeping through his alarm clock. The national U21 team coach, however, has stated Balotelli will start in their upcoming match.
