Leicester City Squad 09/10 - Goalkeepers

I have thought of another feature that I am going to do over the next couple of days. I will feature the new squad of Leicester City, and the player’s who will be taking part in another season at the club. I will start with the Goalkeepers, so please read and enjoy.

Chris Weale - At the moment new signing Chris Weale looks set to be the new number one at the Walkers Stadium this season. Out of the keepers at the club, Weale looks likely to feature in most of City’s games only less the club decide to sign another keeper. He struggled to make an impact at his former club Bristol City and he was loaned out three times while at Ashton Gate. Chris Weale went on loan to Hereford twice in the space of a year. He also spent time at Yeovil last season and notably scored a goal for them. This season he is at another new club, this time Leicester City. Manager Nigel Pearson must think he is a quality keeper or he wouldn’t have signed him. He is not a keeper I would have wanted, but all we can do is to see how he progresses as the Foxes number 1.

Conrad Logan - We now move onto Conrad Logan. Firstly Logan is one of the worst keepers Leicester have ever had at the club. I don’t know why Leicester hasn’t got shut of the Irishman and as I am saying this most Leicester fans might agree aswell. Logan looks set to be the number two at Leicester in 09/10 and how disastrous that will be. He is even been given a squad number which is number 13. However he has impressed for Leicester from time to time but is known to make mistakes. He has been at Leicester since 2005 and has been on loan to Boston twice, Luton and Stockport twice. Last season he was on loan at both Luton and Stockport, and yes he made a notable howler whilst at Stockport and also he got himself sent off if I record. Logan shouldn’t be playing for Leicester and worst of all he should have left time ago but he didn’t.

Carl Pentney - Carl Pentney will surely be Leicester’s number one in the next couple of years. The youngster is only 19 and has true potential. However Pentney hasn’t been given a squad number for the upcoming season. He actually deserves one and most Leicester fans will agree with me. Hopefully the young keeper might be given a number in the next couple of months. Last season Pentney made one appearance for the Foxes and that was as a substitute against Swindon. Pentney really kept Leicester in the game; he made some fantastic saves against the likes of Simon Cox. Pentney showed potential in that match, so hopefully he might feature in another game this season.

It looks likely that Chris Weale will be the number one keeper this season, with Conrad Logan second choice and the young Carl Pentney in third. Personally Leicester could well sign another keeper on loan in the next couple of weeks. With the likes of Stockdale and Bunn being linked, it’s likely that one of them will be snapped up in due course.
