Top 10 EVER Manchester City Players - No. 6

This blog is designed to choose the greatest ever Manchester City player in my opinion (remember I am only young!). I shall publish one of these every now and again until finally we reach the best player ever to have embraced Maine Road or The City of Manchester Stadium!

*DRUM ROLL PLEASE!*

NUMBER 6 >>>

 Shaun Wright-Phillips

1999-2005, 2008-present - 216 appearances, 45 goals.

What’s not to love about the little fella? He’s back, where he belongs and with that we make a profit of £13million, so I’m not complaining, best of both worlds! He’s an exciting player and you never know what you will get from him; a run, a delightfully timed through-ball or and exquisite cross to create a chance (which no doubt our strikers will spurn). One thing I love is the way he doesn’t see the sky as the limit. He is intelligent, verstaile, ambitious, energetic and will attack and tackle for his team all day long.

He runs at a defence, making them sweat more than a Geordie in a test, bamboozles them with his incredible stepovers and blistering shots. He is also a great dribbler of the ball and works well with his his fellow players (the hundreds he has played with during his time with MCFC!). At only 26 years old he clearly has his best days ahead of him and working with Robinho and other quality players, whom the club will no doubt seek to buy, will make him into an unstoppable force. This is coupled with the fact that his recent performances have staggered many.

One player who I feel could make him even better is Diego from Werder Bremen. Having seen him the the UEFA Cup I feel they could compliment each other very very well. However I believe he fancies a move to Juve?

SWP, a true City legend, rediscovering his England form!

So much for producing this on Wedndesday ……

    Can’t see the second picture.

You can’t use the same joke (Geordies in a maths test) twice in such a short time, and ideally never use it twice in your whole blogging career.

You hav a comma in the second sentance which is not needed. I’m very thankful you said ‘”he’s back” and not something very similar which I thought it said at first!

No, offence, but not one of your better articles.

    - Steven I never pressed the publish button. It did it automatically whilst I was changing my oral answers, I wasn’t even logged in.

    ”Can’t see the second picture.”

    - I can, it must just be you?

”You can’t use the same joke (Geordies in a maths test) twice in such a short time, and ideally never use it twice in your whole blogging career.”

    - Not really a small space of time but this fitted in very well, perfectly infact.

”You hav a comma in the second sentance which is not needed.”

    - ‘Hav’ should be ‘have’. I think it is necessary as it leads onto another point.

”I’m very thankful you said ‘”he’s back” and not something very similar which I thought it said at first!”

    - RACIST!

”No, offence, but not one of your better articles.”

    - Correct me if I am wrong but there should be no comma after the word ‘no’?

p.s I take your opinion and appreciate the constructive criticism…if you could call it ‘constructive’!

    Debatable ……

I see it now, you are correct, I thought you meant later on in the sentence.

I think it is very appropriate, don’t you think?

Would you prefer…’sweat more than Mikey in the 800m?’

  6. Blue Moon Says:

old married couple comes to mind with you two.

What is your opinion Ricky? I don’t think it is half as bad as Steven makes out?!

  8. Blue Moon Says:

I’m afraid I have to disagree with Steven, it is one of your best, it doesn’t seem rushed to me, that’s just Steven trying to get under your skin for the comment you made on his.

Back to the player… he is supreme, in his first stint, he was the heart of the city attack - i’ll always remember his free kick against villa in the season that he left - i’m actually amazed i got tickets for the game, bought them an hour before the game = good stuff - a storming 35 yarder into the top corner - like elano’s on thursday that hit the bar, except it went in.

A great player and a great buy by Sparky

Although, on first reading, i was skimming over the first sentence and did mis-read it. I was about to question your racial attitude, then i read it again. oops :-@

    Thanks Ricky, much appreciated!

Quality player…also love the ‘Name’ in your comment below! Quality!

  11. Steven Goran Erikkson Says:

Matt, seriously, we’re only trying to help. Maybe in the future, you won’t produce another rushed article like this.

  12. MattJonesIsMyHero :-) Says:

i’ll repeat myself… you two are like an old married couple

  13. I*T*P*L Says:

An interestig choice Matt, it’s not often that current players get into this sort of list, and I’m not convinced that Wright Phillips deserves to be.

I was surprised at his goalscoring record though, 45 in 216, one in 4.8, pretty good for a winger, especially as he struggled with his finisheing so much at the start of his career.

No mention of his temper and tendency to lash out at opponents I see.
