Pompey cut ticket prices in an attempt to draw in fans

In an effort to increase the crowds at Fratton Park, Portsmouth have ‘slashed’ match-day ticket prices for a number of Premier League games this season.

Ticket prices are to be slashed for the games against Wigan, Burnley, Birmingham, Sunderland, Stoke, Hull, Blackburn and Wolves.

For these matches alone, adult prices in the Milton End are ‘only’ £20, with accompanied children costing £5 and seniors at £15.

Prices in the Upper North Stand are slightly more expensive, with adult tickets costing £30, £15 for accompanied children and £22 for seniors.

The recent drop in prices sparks suggestions that Portsmouth are now able to afford to, after big wage-earners such as Peter Crouch and Sylvain Distin leaving the club.

Surprisingly, tickets in the Milton End for adults normally costs £34, £25 for seniors and £14 for juniors.

‘Normal prices’ for the North Stand are even more expensive, with adults having to dish out £38 each, with seniors priced at £27 and juniors priced at £20.

To be honest, it’s no wonder why Fratton Park hasn’t been selling out recently.

Portsmouth hope the cut in ticket prices will encourage more fans to visit Fratton Park and recreate an atmosphere to be proud of.

An atmosphere from previous years - one in which we require now through difficult times

CEO Peter Storrie said: “We want to see Fratton Park full for every match, to create the sort of atmosphere that makes the stadium a fortress.

“Having spoken to season ticket holders and supporters groups, they’re in full agreement and behind our plans to slash prices.

“With that in mind we’ve dropped prices in the Milton End and parts of the North Stand where there are spaces for no fewer than eight games.”
