Boyd Bashes Bairns With Double

Two goals from Kris Boyd and a penalty in the second-half from Kenny Miller gave Rangers a 3-1 win at the Falkirk Stadium in this afternoon’s SPL match. The “Falkirk Experience” I had today wasn’t one I’ll remember – I have no idea how their “stand” with the camera on it is even accepted as a stand. Anyhow, Rangers started the game well and after 16 minutes a Rangers break, orchastrated by Madjid Bougherra as he marauded forward into the Falkirk half, and cut the ball back to Kris Boyd for his 150th SPL goal. Bougherra was back in the starting line-up today for Rangers, Danny Wilson was dropped unfairly to the bench and Nacho Novo started out on the left.

Boyd got his second goal after another quick break involving Kenny Miller this time who supplied a low cross into the box, Boyd darted into space and diverted the ball past Olejnik into the net for SPL goal number 151. The Rangers hitman was then booked for cheekily pulling up his shirt after being taunted by the Falkirk Supporters, calling him a “Fat B*****”.

Allan McGregor made some fine saves for Rangers during the first-half, one from Scott Arfield was very impressive as he stopped the ball from a few yards out instinctivley with his foot. There was nothing McGregor could do, though, when Falkirk got on the scoresheet. A corner by Chris Mitchell was headed down by Pele and Moutinho stabbed a deserved goal for the home side in 41 minutes from six yards.

Kenny Miller got Rangers’ 3rd goal from the penalty spot after his chipped pass sent DaMarcus Beasley through on goal, he was fouled and Willie Collum pointed to the spot to give Rangers a penalty. Miller stepped up and fired the ball down the middle to make it 3-1. In any case, the goal took the heart out of Falkirk and only further heroics by Olejnik, saving a Lafferty header and a late Beasley strike, kept the scoreline static.

Falkirk: Olejnik, Barr, McLean, Allison, Pele (McDonald 65), Arfield, Flynn, Mitchell, Lima, Moutinho (Marceta 74), Finnigan (Bullen 68)

Rangers: McGregor, Whittaker, Bougherra, Weir, Papac, Davis, Thomson, McCulloch, Novo (Beasley 62), Miller (Fleck 82), Boyd (Lafferty 71)
