Hot-shot Clare signs for Diamonds

Rushden have today announced the signing of prolific Burton Albion striker Daryl Clare on a free transfer. The 29 year-old former Grimsby, Northampton, Cheltenham, Boston, Chester, Crawley and most recently Burton player netted 48 times in 99 appearances at the Pirelli Stadium, helping the Brewers to the play-offs this season.

Clare rejected a new contract at Burton, with speculation that Cambridge and Stevenage were ready to pounce, before Garry Hill stepped in to snap up the Jersey born goal-machine. Clare said: ‘Obviously the club speaks for itself with its reputation and facilities. This is a massive club waiting for big things to happen. I always set my sights even higher to keep myself hungry as I love scoring goals. I’ve got a good feeling about this. There are quality players here with experience and I’m sure the supporters will be even more excited when they see new faces coming in. Of course, when the club states its ambition to achieve things it’s a big factor to sign.’
