Phillips joins for undisclosed fee

Torquay Utd striker Lee Phillips today completed his move to Rushden and Diamonds for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £17500. The 27 year-old hard working frontman signed just 24 hours after Daryl Clare put pen to paper, promising to excite Rushden fans with plenty of goals to boost a play-off push.

Phillips previously played for Plymouth, Exeter, and Weymouth under current boss Garry Hill, scoring plenty and providing numerous assists at the same time. Phillips found the net 16 times last season as he helped the Gulls’ to the play-off semi-finals. However, he wants to achieve more at Nene Park.

Phillips said: ‘I’m here to score goals, but also to do the dirty work and set up goals. I’ll work the channels hard and run into the ground if needs be. I’m excited to be here and just can’t wait until the season starts.’
