Nuri Sahin, Euro 2008 Turkey star player

Nuri Sahin

Turkey play in Group A against Czech Republic, Portugal and hosts Switzerland. The Turkish squad stands a good chance of doing well in the competition, with their main adversaries for the 2nd place being the Czech Republic, after Portugal most likely win the group. A young player whose talent may be discovered in this year’s competition is 19-year-old Nuri Sahin. Nuri was born in Germany on the 5th September 1988. He plays as a midfielder and is contracted to Borussia Dortmund. He is currently out on loan at Dutch club Feyenoord.

Sahin was awarded the bronze ball in the 2005 FIFA Under 17s World Cup where he showed his exciting potential. He is also the youngest player to have played, and scored, for the Turkish national team, scoring his goal against home-country Germany. Sahin can play as an attacking midfielder and as a defensive midfielder. The young lad has wonderful running and dribbling abilities, that may be compared to a younger Cristiano Ronaldo, as can be seen from the video below. If he is given the chance to impress, a new sensational talent from Turkey may be discovered in Euro 2008.
