Potential summer signings - Kevin Nolan

Kevin Nolan - Mr Bolton Wanderers. He is approaching ten years as a professional player their and still at the tender age of 25.

He helped them to promotion to the Premier League under Sam Allardyce where they have remained ever since.

Nolan plays in central midfield. He is effective both defensively and offensively and has an impressive goal tally netting 40 goals in 268 appearances for ‘The Trotters’.

He is the captain of Bolton Wanderer’s and has enjoyed great success in his time their. Keeping them in the Premier League, guiding them into Europe and helping them to a League Cup final.

When Sam Allardyce left at the end of last season many tipped Nolan to follow his former manager to St.James’ Park. He remained loyal but ironically found himself left out of the side under new boss Sammy Lee.

Lee didn’t last long and Nolan is again a mainstay in Bolton’s fight against the drop under new boss Gary Megson. However, Megson too has been criticised over team selection’s and Nolan was left out of some big European games this season.

Nolan may feel the time is right to move on in his career. He is still young and will harbour ambitions of playing for the England national side and playing for Villa could guarantee that with Ashley Young, Gareth Barry, Scott Carson, Curtis Davies and Gabby Agbonlahor all earning call ups this season.
