World Cup 2010 matchball available for pre-order

The new specific matchball that will used during the 2010 World Cup will be unveiled at a ceremony in South Africa on the 4th December 2009.

However, the revealing of the new ball will play second fiddle to the draw for the heavily anticipated competition due to begin in June 2010. The seedings for the World Cup draw will be presented on the 2nd December and will be based on the FIFA rankings and past performance in the biggest worldwide football tournament. English viewers can catch the draw at 6pm GMT on the 4th December.

As you can see from the preview poster, the design of the ball is unknown yet although it is extremely likely that it will be in the style of African tradition. If the Confederations Cup matchball is anything to go by, then the design will be bright with striking colours. Sportswear retailers Kitbag.com have received pre-orders of the ball for £79.99 to be dispatched on the 5th December. Replica versions of the ball will retail for £14.99.
