World Cup 2010 Stadium, Bloemfontein, South Africa

Bloemfontein’s stadium for the 2010 World Cup is the Free State stadium which is also known as Vodacom Park. The ground has had to undergo significant and costly upgrades to make it eligible for hosting during the tournament. A second tier has had to be added to the main grandstand to bring the capacity from 36,538 up to 48,000. As a result the ground will be able to host five group games and one second round match.

Alongside the new second tier, the ground also needed further renovations including new turnstiles, upgraded floodlights, revamped sound system, new electronic scoreboards and the CCTV and media facilities will be improved. It was estimated that it cost around £221 million to upgrade the stadium.
